Wiesel reestablishes his ethos in the conclusion to "The Perils of Indifference" as follows: He reminds the audience of his experience as a Holocaust survivor.

Ethos, or the ethical appeal, means to convince an audience of the author's credibility or character. Wiesel wished to express the idea that indifference is worse than hatred, because it is essentialy an absence of compassion and a lack of acknowledgement.

How does the dash link two ideas in this sentence?
erastova [34]

Answer:

Dashes are characterized as a small horizontal line(longer than a hyphen) which is used to mark a pause in the sentence by isolating the group of words. They can be used to connect two ideas

by marking the 'bonus phrases' which add additional information in the sentence. For example,

"Even the easiest things — watching movie, playing football, and going out with friends — became dream for me as I have my exams next week."

It is also used for signaling the introductions of the sentence or conclusions. For instance,

"To enhance your performance, you need to strictly focus on things you lag behind in — strength, confidence, and self-reliance."

What lines are repeated in Hamilton’s reflections during “The World Was Wide Enough”?
vagabundo [1.1K]

The line repeated in Hamilton's musings is "on the other side."

We can arrive at this answer because:

 • “The World Was Wide Enough” is the song sung by Hamilton and Burr during the duel scene where Hamilton is killed.
 • At this point in the story, Hamilton is reflective and thoughtful, he doesn't see triumph in the legacy he left, he feels tired and sad for his son's death.

When he starts thinking about his life and everything he has witnessed, he starts repeating the line "on the other side," as he starts thinking about the important people in his life who have died and are no longer on the material side of the world.

The repetition of that line demonstrates Hamilton's desire to go to the other side and find the people he misses.
