Answer

The correct answer is option A.

Blackout is likely to occur when an individual drinks alcohol quickly.

Explanation

Blackout refers to the temporary condition in which an individual temporarily loose the sense of time and memory. It is cause with the high levels of consumption of alcohol which impairs the ability of creating new memory. Thus the rise in the levels of alcohol in blood is the responsible reason for blackouts.

Further Explanation

Blackout is caused with the disruption between the short term and long term memory with the high levels consumption of alcohol. The hippocampus region of the brain is resposnivble fotr the creation of memories in the human brain. This region does not tolerate the excess level of alcohol and thus stops creating memories during blackout.

Blackouts however do not affect the memories which were formed before the intoxication. Factors causing the blackouts are- the kind of alcohol consumed, high speed of alcohol consumption, gender and weight of an individual.

Blackout may result to difficulty in walking, talking and standing. Further it may lead to impaired judgment and vision.

A blackout is more likely to be experienced when drinking quickly. The correct answer for that question is A.

EXPLANATION:

Blackout can happen if someone drinks alcohol quickly. When a blackout happens, a person will experience a rapid increase in blood alcohol (BAC) levels. Sometimes, this is also known as alcohol-induced amnesia. This rapid increase in BAC is often caused by binge drinking, which is drinking alcohol quickly. Blackout can make a person experiences problem with forming memories.

If a person’s BAC reaches 0,14 percent, which is almost twice the legal limit, then a person can experience a blackout. Alcohol interferes with the transfer of information inside the brain, so people can forget what they experience. In the normal setting, memories are formed by transferring sensory input into short-term memory through a process called encoding. Then the information is brought to long-term memory storage. Alcohol interferes the process of encoding and retrieval between long-term memory storage and short-term memory storage.

There are two kinds of alcohol-caused blackouts: partial and complete blackout.

1. Complete (en block)

Complete blackout means that a person experiences total memory loss. The memory processing will return after the body’s BAC lowers.

2. Partial (fragmentary)

Partial blackout means that a person can’t immediately remember what happened during the blackout, but certain stimulus can trigger the memories to return.
