The story of Night, tells of eliezer experiences in times of the Holocaust. He was accustomed to being a child of great faith, until he began to see the horrors of the burnt offering.

His faith then was greatly shaken. He began to question, why God allow such things as the death of innocent people and crematorium of babies, events that according to him, he could never forget.

He then begins to fail to do things that were hitherto habitual, such as studying and praying, until he began to reject God. That way their faith was affected.

Eliezer was a boy who believed in God, and it is understandable that he had had his crises of faith when he began to see the horrors of the holocaust. Answer:

Elizer is a Jew, and due to the exponential rise of anti-Semitism during the Holocaust, he was forced out of his home and seemingly out of his religion. Growing up before the recent events, he was extremely religious and had full faith in God and his teachings.

As the holocaust progressed, his faith steadily crumbled. He began to question his faith and wondered why a seemingly-loving god would allow such evil to take place such as the Jewish babies being burned or the over-exhaustion and starvation. He stops praying and devoting his faith towards god. Because he feels betrayed, he rejects Him at all costs.

I can totally understand why he would feel that way. He’s human. In my opinion, he had every right to feel helpless, scared, and just overall mad at the world. Everything was beyond his grasp and control. I guess even his faith.
