He was a frontiersmen, statesmen, great orator, and accomplished military man. He is one of the founding fathers of Texas and a great Indian Rights Supporter.

It means that the person is mentally ill but is still responsible for the crimes that were committed.
There has always been slavery inside Africa.

Europeans sold goods that the kingdoms wanted.
The kingdoms kept pushing further and further into the interior.
