The mood of the literature refers to the entire atmosphere of the story. It induces several emotions or feelings to the readers with the use of creative words in descriptions and narrations. It usually brings a certain feel or emotional situation among the readers. The mood of the story can be enhanced using diction, the setting, the theme and even the tone of the story making it more dramatic, comic or tragic depending on the author. There are several methods used in creating tone through setting, theme, diction and others.
The purpose was to pursue a matter latter or further with someone. The American decided to learn Italian to be able to speak with the major. There were some things that the American wanted to ask the Major which was the reason for learning the language.
