There are 4 ways a person can become a United States citizen:

1. Being born in the U.S. or one of its territories.

2. If <span>you were born to parents who are U.S. citizens, then you can be a U.S. citizen yourself. This is called "acquisition" of citizenship.

3. Y</span><span>ou can become a citizen through the </span>naturalization process<span>, which basically involves applying for and passing, a </span>citizenship test<span>.
