Answer:

  • (8/15=24/x ) at this point you can do cross multiplication
  • like this= 8×x and 24×15 which will give you 8x/360
  • then= 360/8= 45
  • so x is 45

An ellipse has a vertex at (14, –1). The focus of the ellipse nearest that vertex is located at (8, –1). If the center of the el
zavuch27 [327]
Refer to the diagram shown below.

The right vertex is at (14, -1), and the center is at (-1, -1).
Therefore the semi-major axis is
a = 14 - (-1) = 15

The right focus is at (8, -1).
Therefore
c = 8 - (-1) = 9.

The distance of the directrix from the center is
d = c²/a = 9²/15 = 81/15 = 27/5.

Therefore the equation for the left directrix is
x = -1 - 27/5 = -32/5

Answer: x = -27/5

Aleonysh [2.5K]

Answer:

AB // CD and AD // BC, then ABCD is a parallelogram

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 2: Show AD // BC

A = (-3 , 3) and D = (0 , 0)

Find the slope of AD

m_{AD}=\frac{0-3}{0--3}=\frac{-3}{3}=-1

B = (2 , 5) and C = (5 , 2)

m_{BC}=\frac{2-5}{5-2}=\frac{-3}{3}=-1

The slope of AD = the slope of BC

So AD // BC because they have the same slope

Step 3:

Each two opposite sides are parallel in quadrilateral ABCD

So the quadrilateral is a parallelogram

Suppose a white dwarf star has a diameter of approximately 1.8083 to the power of 4 km. Use the formula 4n to the power of 2 to
aivan3 [116]

ANSWER:

The surface area of the star is 3.2700 x 10^{8} square kilometres.

EXPLANATIONS:

Diameter of the star = 1.8083 x 10^{4} Km.

Surface area of the star = 4n^{2}

Where n is the radius of the star.

So that;

n = \frac{ 1.8083 * 10^{4} }{2}

   = 0.90415 x 10^{4}

n =  0.90415 x 10^{4} Km

Thus,

Surface area = 4 x (0.90415*10^{4} )^{2}

                     = 326994889

Surface area = 3.2700 x 10^{8} km^{2}

Therefore, the surface area of the star is 3.2700 x 10^{8} square kilometres.
