The purpose of expository writing is to inform, explain, describe, or define the author's subject to the reader.
You'd use this type of writing when you want to explain a certain term or idea to your readers, or just to give them an opportunity to learn something more about it, and for them to be informed/understand something they didn't prior to that.

Dafna11 [192]

The sentence <em>The findings of the study will be published in Scientific Journal next month</em> is in the passive voice because the subject of the sentence (<em>the findings of the study</em>) doesn't act but it is rather the passive recipient of the action. If we wanted to rewrite the sentence in the active voice, that would be:

<em>They will publish the findings of the study in Scientific Journal next month. </em>

<u>So, the correct answer is:</u> This sentence can be rewritten in the active voice.

Answer:

Tan enjoys thinking about language and using different forms of English.

Explanation:

In the passage above, the writer, Tan, confesses she is fascinated by the English language and she spends a great deal of time pondering the qualities and the potential that the language possesses; but not only that, she also makes an argument about the fact that the English language is not a monolith, but in fact, it is diverse and has many registers, and they can all be used, so much so that, in her trade, she makes use of them all.
