The energy inside the atoms due to the  forces, that  hold together the nucleus of atom is called the nuclear energy.There are two types of nuclear energy, nuclear fusion and fission. The fusion occurs when atoms combine with each other to form a larger atom. This process is active in stars, they get their energy from the nucleus fusion. Inside the stars the hydrogen atoms get converted into helium atoms. It is this process which generates heat and light energy which is emitted by the stars.
