Each student will receive \frac{1}{8} of the pizza.

  • The number of students that shared pizza = 40
  • Numbers of pizza shared equally = 5
  • The fraction of the pizza that each student receive =?
<h2>Further Explanation</h2>

To determine the fraction of pizza that each student receive = the number of student that shared the pizza divided by the number of pizza shared equally by the students.

Let X represent the fraction of the pizza each student receive

Therefore, we have:

X = \frac{5}{40}

X = \frac{1}{8}

Thus, each student will receive \frac{1}{8} of the pizza.

<h3><u>We can also solve this question using cross multiplication:</u></h3>

5 pizza = x pizza (unknown)

40 students = 1 students (each student)

if we cross multiply, we have:

(5 x 1) = 40x

5 = 40x (divide both side by 40)

\frac{5}{40} = \frac{40X}{40} (40 crossed out 40 to remain X)

\frac{5}{40} = X

X = \frac{5}{40}

X = \frac{1}{8}

The mathematical problem was solve using BODMAS, particularly multiplication and division.

Two spheres have radii 6 and 15. Find the ratios of the areas and the volumes.
lina2011 [118]

Answer:

1st sphere has r1 = 6

=> Surface area S1 = 4 x pi x r1^2 = 4 x pi x 6^2 = 144pi

=> Volume V1 = (4/3) x pi x r1^3 = (4/3) x pi x 6^3 =288pi

2nd sphere has r1 = 15

=> Surface area S1 = 4 x pi x r1^2 = 4 x pi x 15^2 = 900pi

=> Volume V1 = (4/3) x pi x r1^3 = (4/3) x pi x 15^3 =4500pi

=> S1/S2 = 144pi/900pi = 0.16

=> V1/V2 = 288pi/4500pi = 0.064

Hope this helps!

Nick has $7.00. Bagels cost $0.75 each, and a small container of cream cheese cost $1.29. Write an inequality to find the number
mestny [16]
If you buy 1 container of cream and an unknown number of bagels, x will represent the number of bagels you buy.
1.29+0.75x<=7.00

I say less than or equal to because you cannot buy more than 7 dollars worth of things.
