Read the excerpt below and answer the question. So now Della's beautiful hair fell about her rippling and shining like a cascade

of brown waters. It reached below her knee and made itself almost a garment for her. And then she did it up again nervously and quickly. Once she faltered for a minute and stood still while a tear or two splashed on the worn red carpet. On went her old brown jacket; on went her old brown hat. With a whirl of skirts and with the brilliant sparkle still in her eyes, she fluttered out the door and down the stairs to the street. What is the purpose of the author’s description of Della’s hair and clothing?

The author's purpose is to express that beauty is not only measured by the quality of the clothes worn, it also considers simple physical traits like beautiful long wavy hair and expressive sparkling eyes, so that Della shouldn't be deemed unworthy due to the fact that she has an old jacket and hat.

How does Franklin use irony in this excerpt from Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America? by showing the Native American
olasank [31]

Answer:

by showing that neither the settlers nor Native Americans accepted the others' beliefs

Explanation:

Benjamin Franklin showed through this article that the groups, that is, the Native Americans and the Settlers found it difficult to accept each other's believes. He used irony, that is saying the opposite of what a person means to illustrate this. When the Natives showed civility to the Settlers, they mistook it for acceptance of their beliefs. But when the Natives deliberated on the matter and offered their response, it most times was a rejection of all the things which the settlers proposed to them.

In like manner, the settlers also considered the Indian's beliefs such as his theory of the existence of life as mere fables. The Indians also believed that the English man's meeting taught him no good as his actions belied that.

Biographers consult multiple sources before writing because_______________.
vazorg [7]
Because they want to write an objective account. They write true stories, so they need as much information as it is possible to gather. If they used only one source, it wouldn't be a believable, authentic, and true story. Opposing or contradictory views are a valuable piece of information to include in a biography. They show the controversies of an age, not just various personal accounts about someone.

malfutka [58]

A definition would be common in a piece of expository writing, but it would not have much effect if you were trying to make an argument to a reader.
