In Year 1, Sandy and Chris have adjusted gross income of $200,000. During the year, they provided more than half of the support

for both of their unmarried adult children, Megna and Britt. Both children live near the colleges they are attending. Megna is a 25-year-old full-time graduate student with no earned income. Britt is a 22-year-old part-time student with $15,000 earned income from a part-time job. Answer: $1,000

Explanation:

Even though Megna and Britt are above the age of 17 and as such do not qualify for the child tax credit, they qualify for the Credit for Other Dependants.

Under this Credit, $500 can be deducted per dependant if certain conditions are fulfilled such as the dependents having a valid American identity number such as ATIN, ITIN, or SSN.

The dependants have to be your children or elderly parents.

With $500 in credit available per dependant and Sandy and Chris having 2 dependants in Megna and Britt, they can get a credit of $1,000 for the both of them.

marysya [2.9K]

Question

Part P40 is a part used in the production of air conditioners at Jackson Corporation. The following costs and data relate to the production of Part P40:

Number of parts produced annually 26,000

Fixed cost $43,000

Variable cost 70,000

Total cost to produce 113,000

Jackson Corporation can purchase the part from an outside supplier for $4.62 per unit. If they purchase from the outside supplier, 50% of the fixed costs would be avoided. If Jackson Corporation makes the part, how much will its operating income be?

Answer:

Change in operating income= $28,620

Explanation:

                                                                                        $

Total variable cost of making 70,000

Total cost of external purchase ($4.62×26,000) 120,120

Extra variable cost from external purchase 50,120

less Savings in fixed overheads(50%×43,000) ( 21,500)

Change in operating income 28,620

Note that the the balance of the fixed cost (50% of $43,000= 21500) were not included because they not relevant for the decision. They would be incurred either way.

Change in operating income= $28,620

What type of economic system are you a part of? Write your answer in a short paragraph
Mila [183]

Answer:

Mixed economic system

Explanation:

A mixed economy is an economy systems that combine both the attributes of capitalism and socialism. That is some of enterprises of the economy are owned and controlled by the government while the rest are left in the hands of private individuals. In some instances, both of them participate in a sector of the economy. For example, in the Nigeria's electricity sector, the federal government generates electricity while private individuals distribute it.

Further explanation for a better understanding:

Basically, there three types of economic system: capitalism, socialism and mixed economy.

Capitalism is an economic system in which the control of trade and industry is in the hands of private individuals. That is, these private individuals are the owners of means of production and the profit that may be derived from them. It believes that the government should not have any hand in running the economy but just concentrate on politics. The main characteristic of the system is that price is used in allocating the resources of the economy.

Socialism is an economic system in which the control of trade and industry of country is left in the hand of the community as a whole which is the government. That is, the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned and controlled by the government. The main characteristic of the system is that government determines how resources are allocated in the economy.

A mixed economy combines both capitalism and socialism as explained above.

I wish you all the best.
