The NASA or National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an agency in the U.S. mainly in charge of space research and spatial programs, besides this, this agency is recognized for its important achievements in space exploration including the program that took the man to the moon. NASA was created in 1958 during the Cold War, which was an indirect conflict between the U.S. and the Soviet Union from 1946 to 1991 that implied a race or competition in space exploration. Indeed, in 1957 the Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite or Sputnik 1 and due to this a crisis about the superiority of the Soviet Union of the U.S. emerged, which led to the creation of the NASA and the beginning of the space race. Thus, the event that resulted in the creation of NASA was the Sputnik launch as this event motivated the U.S. government to began different spatial missions and achievements in spatial exploration to show technological superiority to the Soviet Union.
