Describe in detail how you would create a number line with the following points: 1, 3.25, the opposite of 2, and − (−4 ). Please
be sure to describe on which tick marks each point is plotted and how many tick marks are between each integer. It may help for you to draw this number line by hand on a sheet of paper first.
Draw a horizontal line with vertical tick marks. Draw one in the middle of the horizontal line for 0, then draw 4 vertical ticks for every whole integer, this will split the number into quarters.
Draw enough to have up to positive 4 on the right side of 0 and -2 on the left side of 0 and label it with the given numbers.
The opposite of 2. The opposite of a number has the same value with different sign, so in this case the number is -2.
-(-4). Here we multiply signs. So the number is 4.
Now, we must graph -2, 1, 3.25 and 4.
The image attached shows all four numbers drawn on a number line. The first number must be -2, because is the least, then number 1, then number 3.25 and at last number 4.
