Dire poverty, also referred to as extreme or absolute poverty, refers to a severe state or condition in which a person's earnings or saving are nonexistent or not enough to meet their basic needs or to have means of subsistence, like food, drinking water, shelter, proper healthcare, sanitation facilities and education.
