Hello!

To find the money she has left after paying for the field trip and lunch, we need to be add the costs together, and then subtract it from the total amount Mary has to use for the field trip.

We are given the cost of the field trip, which is 33.50 dollars, and how much she spent for lunch, which is 9.75 dollars. Also, Mary had 45 dollars to use for the field.

33.50 + 9.75 = 43.25 | This is how much she spent on the field trip.

45 - 43.25 = 1.75

Therefore, after the field trip, Mary has 1.75 dollars left.

The total amount she has to spend :  $45.  Field trip cost = 33.50  Lunch = 9.75  Total spent = 33.50 + 9.75 = 43.25  Remainder :  45 - 43.25 = 1.75  $ 1.75

I'm terrible at math, so I'm sorry if I'm totally wrong, but I'm assuming you just take the average:

20+28=48m
48/2=24m

On average, it may take them 24m if they work together.
