The speech started with a bitter tone: "The black lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity," he said shortly after. But in the middle of the speech, wanting to cheer the exhausted and heated crowd, King dropped the papers and ended with the most optimistic statement of the day.

On the other hand the newspaper article has a descriptive tone, perhaps for moments of sadness yearning for the loss of the mass leader, enjoying the flame that left burning and continues to burn in pursuit of human rights and equality.
