Religion played a vital role in shaping Japan's culture throughout the years.
(not sure if there is a direct answer or if it's just a paragraph)

Japan became influenced in it's early years by Chinese Culture, adopting it's educational techniques, law beliefs, and religious characteristics. However, Japan made slight and big changes, allowing them to evolve into their own culture. 

Many Religions impacted Japan:
Buddhism
Christianity 
Chinese Philosophies
Etc.

Answer: Religion shaped Japan's culture by taking in strict laws and codes of honor from the influence of a certain religions.

Regionalism

Regional differences are apparent both in Ecuadorian culture and American culture.  A region or state, can manifest differences in the way people talk, dress etc.

Religion

In both Ecuadorian and American culture,  Christianism has the greatest influence on personal and social behavior as  a part of national identity.
