What is "dearer to brutus than life itself"? how does cassius use this to his advantage?

English
1 answer:
Drupady [299]2 years ago

Honour is dearer to Brutus than life itself. And that is what Cassius reiterates, with the goal of attracting Brutus to his own cause (of betraying and getting rid of Caesar). Cassius masterfully manipulates Brutus. First, he tells him that he is honourable. And then, he holds him by that honour, because honourable people should act that way. Furthermore, he tells Brutus that the Romans would be eager to have someone like that as their leader. So, Cassius first feeds Brutus's ego, and then starts provoking his greed.

What is the author's purpose for including the allusion to W.E.B. DuBois' short story "Of the Coming of John" from The Souls of
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

The author's purpose is to highlight the persistence of racism.

Explanation:

The short story "Of the Coming of John" shows how even if a black citizen is well educated, educated and promotes the good of society, with progressive attitudes and actions, he will always be seen as inferior to white citizens, because when the population looks for him, she will see him only as a black man. This is because racism is so ingrained in our society that it prevails, regardless of the situation.

When the author quotes this short story, he wants to emphasize this theme and provoke people's reflection on the racist concepts they encourage.

Efficacy is simply the ability to work effectively to generate an expected output.
