PLEASE HELP ILL MARK BRAINIEST. Describe 5 specific jobs that proteins do in your body or in your cells, How is DNA different fr
Lana71 [14]

Answer:

1. Building Tissues and Muscles

Protein is necessary in building and repairing body tissues. If you do not receive enough protein in your diet, muscles wasting and other symptoms may result. Exercises like strength training cause micro tears in the muscle and as your body repairs these tears, it causes the muscles to enlarge. Protein is necessary to the immune response that helps to heal the tiny muscle tears. However, consuming extra protein will not help your body to build extra muscle.

2. Hormone Production

Hormones are chemicals produced by glands in one part of the body that help coordinate activities and communicate with other areas. Protein hormones bind to receptors on the cell membrane instead of entering the cell directly. Hormonal proteins, like insulin and oxytocin, play vital roles like controlling blood sugar concentration and stimulating contractions during childbirth. Hormones can also activate muscle growth by increasing protein synthesis or decreasing protein breakdown.

3. Enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that bind to molecules to speed up chemical reactions. They play a role in many activities such as muscle contraction and relaxation, and nerve impulse transmissions. Amylase and lipase are enzymes that help you to digest carbohydrates and fat. The enzyme ATPase exports cell toxins, and is essential for breaking down adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, which releases energy.

4. Immune Function

Antibodies are specialized protein configurations that provide a specific immune defense against invaders. They are produced by the body once it's exposed to specific antigens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. Complement proteins support the immune system as a second line of defense. They can create holes in bacterial walls, promote inflammation which attacts macrophages that destroy invading organisms, and attach to the foreign substances.

5. Energy

Protein is broken down into amino acids during digestion and provides four calories per gram. Including protein with meals can help you feel more satiated, and can keep you fuller longer. Although protein can be used as an energy source, the body's main energy source is carbohydrates. Eating a diet with lean proteins like beans and fish, complex carbohydrates like whole grains and vegetables, and healthy fats such as olive oil and avocados is the best way to supply your body with energy.

There are two differences that distinguish DNA from RNA: (a) RNA contains the sugar ribose, while DNA contains the slightly different sugar deoxyribose (a type of ribose that lacks one oxygen atom), and (b) RNA has the nucleobase uracil while DNA contains thymine.

A single DNA molecule is shaped as a double helix made up of two strands of nucleotides that are bonded together. Each nucleotide consists of a nitrogen base, a sugar (ribose), and a phosphate group.

Because there are only 20 different amino acids but 64 possible codons, most amino acids are indicated by more than one codon.

Which of the following best describes the function of the pistil in plant reproduction? It grows into the endosperm, which provi
choli [55]

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>D. It is the female part of the plant and contains the ovules, which house the main egg. </em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

Pistil is the part of female reproductive system of the plants. Stigma, style and ovary together constitute a pistil. Ovary is the swollen base of the pistil that contains eggs or ovules to which the nuclei of the pollen grain fuse and form seed.

Stigma is the outer most part that captures the pollen grains and transfers it to the ovary through the style. Style is the elongated part that connects the stigma and the ovary.

t cells bind to antigens that have been engulfed, digested, and presented on the surface of a(n) ____.
Naddik [55]

Answer;

-Antigen presenting cells

Explanation;

-Helper T cell and inflammatory T cell TCRs recognise epitopes displayed by MHC class II molecules on the surface of antigen-presenting immune cells, including: macrophages that engulf foreign particles such as bacteria; dendritic cells that present antigen to T cells; and B cells that produce antibodies.

-Antigen-present cells APCs engluf antigens, present fragments of antigens to be recognized by T cells . Major types; dendritic cells in connective tissues and epidermis, macrophages in connective tissues and lymphoid organs &B cells.

The best descriptions are those that correctly describe the terms or concepts ecology.

<h3>Which descriptions best fit the given terms?</h3>

The study of living things and their non-living is ecology.

The description of a given term provides information about that term or concept.

The best description of the given terms are as follows:

  1. Mutualism - a relationship where both organisms benefits
  2. Commensalism - a a relationship where one organism benefits and the other is unaffected
  3. Producers - organisms that make their own food
  4. Food web - show energy flow in an ecosystem
  5. Biome - a large area defined by climate and organisms that live there
  6. Stability - ability of an ecosystem to respond to change
  7. Exponential - growth pattern at constant rate
  8. Carrying capacity
  9. Food chain
  10. Limiting factor
  11. Parasitism
  12. Trophic levels
  13. Biodiversity
  14. Abiotic factors
  15. Population
  16. Climate
  17. Biosphere
  18. Consumers
  19. Keystone species
  20. Community

Therefore, the best descriptions are those that correctly describe the terms or concepts.
