Answer:

Adaptation Level Phenomenon

Explanation:

Adaptation Level Phenomenon as defined by David G Myers in his book "The Pursuit of Happiness", describes the human tendency to judge various stimuli and situations relative to those we have previously experienced. A sensory example of the adaptation-level phenomenon would be wearing a tee shirt outside when the temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit in April, but wearing a coat when the same temperature occurs in September. Because in the spring we are used to colder weather, our "neutral" level for temperature, (the point at which the temperature is neither hot nor cold), is lower than it is in the fall, when we are used to a warmer climate. Our sensations, our perceptions, are all relative.

Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Answer:

Metal is a good conductor of heat but air is a poor conductor of heat.

Explanation:

Touching the metal sides of the oven can be harmful while holding our hand briefly in the oven air is okay. This tells us about the relative conductivities of metal and air that metal is a good conductor of heat but air is a poor conductor of heat. Conduction is the transference of heat through physical contact. Not all materials conduct heat in the same way. The best conductors of heat are metals and stone.

" In Jill's psychotherapy sessions, the therapist has been using systematic desensitization to gradually make her more comfortable with social situations. Similar to the treatments used for individuals with social phobia, the therapist has given Jill homework assignments that require her to practice talking to strangers, join informal groups and speak in front of small groups. Most likely she is being treated for avoidant personality disorder. "
