The midpoint is kinda the average of the two points,

( (-9 + 7)/2, (-4 + 8)/2 ) = (-1, 2)

Third choice.

Treat the x- and y-coordinates separately.

Between x=-9 and x = 7 are 16 units. Take half of that, which would be 16/2, and add that result (8) to -9. The x-coordinate of the midpoint is then x = -1.

Simillarly:

Between y = -4 and y = 8 are 12 units. Thus, add 12/2 units to y = -4, obtaining y=2 units.

The midpoint of the given line segment is (-1, -4).

Note that you could also average the given x-coordinates to achieve the same result:

xmidpoint = (-9+7)/2 = -1 (same as before).

|2x - 1|  =  | - x - 2|

Thus ;

2x - 1 =  - x - 2

Add both sides x

2x + x - 1 =  - x + x - 2

3x - 1 =  - 2

Add both sides 1

3x - 1 + 1 =  - 2 + 1

3x =   - 1

Divide both sides by 3

\frac{3x}{3}  =  \frac{ - 1}{3}  \\

x =  -  \frac{1}{3}  \\

<h2>Or </h2>

2x - 1 =  - ( - x - 2)

2x - 1 = x + 2

Subtract both sides x

2x  - x  - 1 = x - x + 2

x - 1 = 2

Add both sides 1

x - 1 + 1 = 2 + 1

x = 3

Identify the surface with the given vector equation. r(u, v) = 2 sin(u) i + 5 cos(u) j + v k, 0 ≤ v ≤ 5 plane hyperbolic parabol
olchik [2.2K]
Note that this just produces three parametric equations:

x(u) = 2 \sin(u)
y(u) = 5 \cos(u)
z(v) = v

In the x-y plane, this is just he parametric equation for an ellipse (as a function of u). The z is simply a linear function.

The surface is then an ellipse extruded along the z-axis. We get a elliptic cylinder.

I read 1/3 of a book in an hour.<br> How much more of the book will I read in 2 1/5 hours
Verizon [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the number of pages of the book in the given hour:

To find the number of pages in 2 1/5 hours, multiply the number of pages read in 1 hour by 2 1/5 hours.

\sf \text{  Number of pages read in 2 $\dfrac{1}{5}$ hours = $\dfrac{1}{3}*2\dfrac{1}{5}$ }

                                                       \sf = \dfrac{1}{3}*\dfrac{11}{5}\\\\=\dfrac{11}{15}

\sf \text{Number of pages read more in 2 $\dfrac{1}{5}$ hours = $\dfrac{11}{15}-\dfrac{1}{3}$}

                                                                 \sf =\dfrac{11}{15}-\dfrac{1*5}{3*5}\\\\=\dfrac{11}{15}-\dfrac{5}{15}\\\\=\dfrac{6}{15}

6 m
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

51.63m^3

Step-by-step explanation:

The figure is made up of a rectangle, triangle and a semi circle

Area of the figure = Area of triangle + rectangle + semicircle

Area of the triangle = 1/2 * base * height

Area of the triangle = 1/2 * 3 * 5

Area of the triangle = 15/2

Area of the triangle = 7.5m^3

Area of the rectangle = Length * Width

Area of the rectangle = 6 * 5

Area of the rectangle = 30m^2

Area of the semicircle = πr²/2

Area of the semicircle = π(3)²/2

Area of the semicircle = 3.14(9)/2

Area of the semicircle = 3.14 * 4.5

Area of the semicircle = 14.13m^2

The area = 30 + 14.13+7.5

Area of the figure = 51.63m^3
