People in the middle colonies were considered more diverse in culture. most people in the middle colonies were dependent on fur trade and farming for economical survival. there was also a greater emphasis on religious toleration.

The middle colonies with rich soil and good climatic condition become a major producer of wheat and other grains. The Middle Colonies flourished due to fertile soil, rivers, and forests. More religious freedom in the Middle colonies than in the New England colonies. The New England colonies engaged in fishing, shipbuilding and trading. The Southern colonies based on farming cash crops like tobacco, cotton, indigo, and rice. Plantations became more pronounced in the Southern colonies with the practice of slavery.
