Explanation:

The Great Awakening was a difference in the religious ideas that changed the colonies in America during the 1730 and 1740.

This movement came to exist in this period when preachers or Christian leaders travelled one town to another town by spreading the words of their Lord ( Christ), also about salvation and sins. All this led to the emergence of the new dedication towards religion.

However not all accepted the ideas of the Great Awakening, which led to the division within the religion. It broke the New England ministry and many colonists into two groups. Those who followed the new ideas were called the New lights and those who embraced the old traditional ideas were called the Old lights. It was in the 1790s when several schools were established along with seminaries and mission societies.
