In the Georgia State Senate, Dec. 6, the President announced that the unfinished business of yesterday was the first in order, that was the resolution ratifying the amendment to the constitution of the United States abolishing slavery.

On motion the house resolution on the same subject was received in lieu of the original.

The main change is the countries the immigrants were coming from. The immigrants in 1840s were coming from the Western Europe mainly Ireland and Germany.  Immigrants from Asia and Eastern Europe were coming a bit later while during the beginning of the 20th century most of the immigrants came from Italy.
