Average rate of change over interval [a,b]: r=[f(b)-f(a)]/(b-a)
In this case the interval is [0,2], then a=0, b=2
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/(2-0)
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/2

1) First function: h(x)
r=[h(2)-h(0)]/2
x=2→h(2)=(2)^2+2(2)-6
h(2)=4+4-6
h(2)=2
x=0→h(0)=(0)^2+2(0)-6
h(0)=0+0-6
h(0)=-6
r=[h(2)-h(0)]/2
r=[2-(-6)]/2
r=(2+6)/2
r=(8)/2
r=4

2) Second function: f(x)
A function, f, has an
x-intercept at (2,0)→x=2, f(2)=0
and a y-intercept at (0,-10)→x=0, f(0)=-10
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/2
r=[0-(-10)]/2
r=(0+10)/2
r=(10)/2
r=5

3) Third function: g(x)
r=[g(2)-g(0)]/2
From the graph:
g(2)=6
g(0)=2
r=(6-2)/2
r=(4)/2
r=2

4) Fourth function: j(x)
r=[j(2)-j(0)]/2
From the table:
x=2→j(2)=-8
x=0→j(0)=4
r=(-8-4)/2
r=(-12)/2
r=-6

Answer:
Pairs
1) h(x)     4
2) f(x)      5
3) g(x)     2
4) j(x)     -6

Can you find the volume and tell me how you came up with the answer? :) thanks
umka21 [38]
Hello,

The volume of a cylinder is \pi*R^{2}*h.

We have : h = 17 cm but we don't have the radius.

Therefore let's find it.
You have a rectangle triangle and one of its length is the radius of the cylinder base.

So let's apply the Pythagorean theorem.

For us : AB = 17 cm, AC = 15

AB² = AC² + BC²
17² = 15² + BC²
BC² = 17² - 15²
BC² = 289 - 225
BC² = 64
BC = √64
BC = 8 cm

Therefore the radius measures 8 cm and now we have everything to calculate the cylinder's volume.

\pi*R^{2}*h
= \pi *8^2*17 = 3418 cm^3 Hope it helps !

In a school of 1575 students, there are 870
ankoles [38]

Step-by-step explanation:

Total students = 1575

No of females = 870

No of males = 1575 - 870 = 705

Ratio of females to males

870 : 705

In simplest form

58 : 47

A hiker climbs a 5-mile trail up a mountain in 2 hours. On the return trip downhill, she walks the same trail and returns to her
Ivahew [28]

Answer:

3.33 miles per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

The total distance traveled by the hiker is 5 * 2 = 10 miles, and the total time travelled is 2 + 1 = 3 hours.

So, to find the average speed of the entire trip, we can use the formula:

distance = speed * time

With distance = 10 and time = 3, we have:

10 = speed * 3

speed = 10/3 = 3.33 miles per hour.
