The Culper Spy Ring was assembled in 1778 by Major Benjamin Tallmadge (alias, John Bolton/721) at the request of General George Washington (711) and operated on Long Island (728) and New York City (727) during the Revolutionary War. Codes and aliases were used to conceal the identities of the members.
By 1914 the major European powers had split into two Alliance comprising of; Tripple Entente which comprised of Britain, France, and Russia, while, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy formed the Tripple Alliance. Alliances shifted during World War 1 on the western front when Italy betrayed its Allies, Germany and Austria when it attacked Austria in 1915 when it joined the Triple Entente. Bulgaria later joined the central powers, while Britain asked, India, Arabs, New-Zealand, and Australia to help in attacking the Ottoman empire. Towards the end of the war, the United States joined the Triple Alliance and declared war on Germany on 6th April 1917.
