Answer:

The scatter plot has both outliers and clusters.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question.

The scatter plot shows:

  • A scatter plot is a two-dimensional data visualization technique.
  • Dots are used to represent the values obtained for two different variables.

The x-axis shows the number of blackbirds seen and y-axis shows the number of Robins seen.

Yes, there is an outlier in the scatter plot. It could be easily seen as it lies totally away from all the points of the scatter plot. It has a different model or representation that all the other data set.

Yes, we can see clusters in the scatter plot. three clusters can be easily identified in the scatter plot.

Clusters are basically a collection of data points from the data set that are very close to each other and show similar properties. They from distinct groups in the data set.

I think your answer is correct if not the last one because there is an outlier and with process of elimination all the others ones that say there isn't are incorrect and unless that answer you have bubbled is incorrect than your last resort is the One cluster One outlier but i honestly dont see a true cluster :)

What two-dimensional figure will result from slicing this rectangular pyramid parallel to the base?
andreev551 [17]

Answer: The answer is D. Trapezoid.

Step-by-step explanation:  As shown in the attached figure, a rectangular pyramid  ABCDE is drawn. We are slicing this rectangular pyramid parallel to the base BCDE at the points F, G, H and I.

We can clearly see from the figure that upper half of the sliced figure will be similar to the pyramid BCDE and the lower sliced figure will be a trapezoid. These are the three-dimensional figures.

Also, the sliced two-dimensional figure FGHI will be a rectangle, because

the pyramid is a rectangular one and so,  FI=GH, FG=HI and all the angles are right angles.

Thus, the resulting two-dimensional figure will be a rectagle.

D. Use the model from part (a) to approximate the mileage of an automobile that costs $15,500.
ahrayia [7]

The linear regression equation which models the data, obtained using technology such as a linear regression calculator is :

  • y = - 0.18x + 19716.81

  • <em>x</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>mileage</em><em> </em><em>;</em><em> </em><em>y</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>price</em>

The predicted or approximate values obtained using the model are given below :

A.)<em> </em>

<u>Approximate</u><u> </u><u>mileage</u><u> </u><u>for</u><u> </u><u>an</u><u> </u><u>automobile</u><u> </u><u>that costs</u><u> </u><u>$</u><u>15500</u><u> </u><u>can</u><u> </u><u>be</u><u> </u><u>calculated</u><u> </u><u>thus</u><u> </u><u>:</u>

  • <em>y</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>15500</em>

Substituting <em>y</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>15500</em><em> </em><em>into</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>equation</em><em> </em><em>:</em>

15500 = -0.18x + 19716.81

0.18x = 19716.81 - 15500

0.18x = 4216.81

x = 4216.81 / 0.18

x = 23,426.722

Hence, mileage is about 23427 miles.

B.)

<u>Approximate</u><u> </u><u>the</u><u> </u><u>predicted</u><u> </u><u>price</u><u> </u><u>of</u><u> </u><u>an</u><u> </u><u>automobile</u><u> </u><u>with</u><u> </u><u>6000</u><u> </u><u>miles</u><u> </u><u>:</u>

  • <em>x</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>6000</em><em> </em><em>miles</em><em> </em>

Substituting <em>x</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>6000</em><em> </em><em>into</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>equation</em><em> </em><em>:</em>

y = -0.18x + 19716.81

y = -0.18(6000) + 19716.81

y = 18636.81

Hence, the price of the car would be about $18637.
