1st eq.  4x +5y = 7

2nd eq.  y = 3x+9

 replace the value of y from 2nd eq for y in 1st eq.

4x +5(3x+9) = 7

now distribute:

4x + 15x + 45 = 7

 combine like terms:

19x + 45 = 7

subtract 45 from each side:

19x = -38

divide both sides by 19

x = -38/19 = -2

now use value of x in 2nd eq to solve for y

y = 3(-2) +9 = -6 + 9 = 3

x = -2, y = 3

For an object whose velocity in ft/sec is given by v(t) = −t2 + 2, what is its displacement, in feet, on the interval t = 0 to t
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

1.333

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance travelled (or displacement) will be the antiderivative of Velocity.

Antiderivative of -t^2 + 2 =

d(t) = -t^3/3 +2t

Now plug in t=2 and t=0 and subtract them.

(-8/3+4)- (0/3 +0)= -8/3+4 = 1.333
