Answer :- y=50°


Explanation :-

Given : Two Parallel lines <em>b↔</em> and <em>e↔</em> are crossed by a transversal<em> line a↔.</em>

As y and 50° are alternate interior angles therefore by alternate interior angles theorem they must be congruent.

Thus y=50°

  • Alternate interior angles produced when a transversal line passes through two parallel lines.
  • The angles that are produced on opposite sides of a transversal line and inside the two parallel lines are said to be alternate interior angles.
  • The alternate interior angles theorem tells that when the lines are parallel, then the alternate interior angles made by a transversal  must be equal.

They are equal in length.

120 = 2.5b
÷2.5  ÷2.5
48 = b <— that is the length of one of the congruent sides
