So if you work for 8 hours everyday and you could build one dog house in 6 hours. Day one: 1 dog house. Day two: 2 dog houses. Day 3: 4 dog houses because you worked and extra 2 hours.Day 4: 5 dog houses. Day 5: 6 dog houses. Day six: 8 dog houses same reason as day 3. Day 7: 9 dog houses. Day 8: 10 dog houses. It would take 8 days to build 10 dog houses. Or 7.5 since you worked extra hours

Bob's Bagels sells 10 bagels for $11.00, and Donny's Bagels sells 4 bagels for $3.00.
Alina [70]

Answer:

The better deal is 4 bagels for $3.00.

The fractions you would compare would be:

11 / 10 = 1.10 and

3 / 4 = 0.75

A "deal" would refer to the better value. In this case the better deal has a lower ratio of dollars to bagels.

Yuan has 5 quarts of broth. He uses 1/2 of the broth to make soup. Then, he uses 1/4 of the broth he has left to make gravy.
vovangra [49]

Answer:

 1 7/8 quarts

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount Yuan has left can be found by multiplying the original amount by the fraction he has left.

__

used

After using 1/2 of the broth for soup, the fraction remaining is ...

 1 -1/2 = 1/2

The amount Yuan used for gravy is 1/4 of this, or ...

 (1/4)(1/2) = 1/8 . . . of the original amount of broth

The total fraction Yuan used was ...

 fraction used = fraction for soup + fraction for broth = 1/2 +1/8 = 5/8

remaining

Then the fraction remaining is ...

 fraction remaining = 1 - fraction used = 1 - 5/8 = 3/8.

The amount remaining is this fraction of the original amount:

 (3/8)(5 quarts) = 15/8 quarts = 1 7/8 quarts . . . . remaining
