Without medical attention, the victim may collapse, lose consciousness, becomes unresponsive, and die. Many victims of cardiac arrest have no history of heart disease and are stricken without a warning. Chances of survival from sudden cardiac death diminish by 7 to 10% for each minute without immediate CPR. After 10 minutes, resuscitation rarely succeeds, and the patient or victim... dies.
