Way 1 - Luke Stevens transports Lyddie and Charlie to the village.

Way 2  - Luke offers to look after their farm and to also look in on <span>Charlie.</span>

Hello! I read this book a couple years ago!

I don't precisely remember what happens in chapter 2, but, Luke Stevens invite them to dinner and offer to drive Charlie and Lyddie in his wagon, and that's when they begin their new jobs (continues in chapter 3). Also, the Stevens buy the calf from them, so they get extra money that way.
