Answer:

To bury Polyneices.

Explanation:

The tragedy play "Antigone" by Sophocles tells the story of how a sister's love for her brother led her to death. Her action in choosing family ties and honor over the rule of the law made her a victim of the prejudiced system of the kingdom.

Antigone's two brothers Polyneices and Eteocles had fought and killed each other. While the new king Creon gave a proper burial to Eteocles, calling him a martyr, he prohibits anyone from giving the same treatment to Polyneices for he finds him to be a traitor. Antigone knows that the king had decreed a death sentence to anyone burying Polyneices but she could not just let it be and leave the body of her brother rot. So, she bravely buried him, thus putting the death sentence upon herself. The protagonist mentioned in the is Antigone, and her aim was to give a proper burial to her brother Polyneices.

Which aspect of literary criticism deals with whether the author's message is significant or worthwhile?
LekaFEV [45]
The specific aspect of literary criticism that demonstrates the author's message as significant or worthwhile is the author-based approach. It is also called the Expressive Theory. It depicts that the best interpretation of a text (poem, novel, fictional stories, etc) comes from the author himself.

The reader-based approach is not entirely reliable because every reader may see a text in a different perspective. There are even cases wherein readers interpret a text in a deep, deep way while the author meant everything in the literal sense. Everything varies from case to case.
