The term photon is derived from Greek phōs, phōtos, meaning “light”.

The energy of a photon depends on radiation frequency, but their speed is equal to the speed of light. There are photons of all energies from high-energy gamma- and X-rays, through visible light, to low-energy infrared and radio waves because we have a continuous band of electromagnetic waves.

In the near future we will also be having computers working on the principles of photons as their information carriers, such computing is called quantum computing, which is going to make the computers very fast.
