During spring, when Earl's crops were plentiful, he noticed an increased number of rabbits. At night, he also heard an increased

number of howls from the coyotes. What do you think will happen when winter comes around and the crops die out? The plants in a nearby forest would decrease to sustain the rabbit population. Coyote population will increase from the increased number of rabbits. Both the rabbit and coyote population could decrease because the original food supply decreased.

The correct answer is that both the rabbit and coyote population could decrease because the original food supply decreased. We know that the initial crop increase caused the rabbit population to increase, which caused the coyote population to increase, so when the crops die there will not be enough food and the rabbits and coyotes will have to move on to another region to avoid starvation.

Answer:

The correct answer will be option- Both the rabbit and coyote population could decrease because the original food supply decreased.

Explanation:

In the given question Earl grew crops which attracted the populations of the rabbit and coyote in spring noticed by her.

If the crops die out during winter then it will affect the population of the rabbits and coyote as the crops act as a producer in the food chain. The crops attracted the herbivores or primary consumers like rabbits which attracted the coyote (wolf) which feeds on the rabbit. The coyote acted as the secondary consumer.

The decrease in the number of the crops will disrupt the food chain and the population of rabbits and coyote will decrease as the food supply to the rabbits decreased due to which coyote will also get decreased.

Thus, the selected option is the correct answer.
