The count the number of times the sign changes
that is how many positive roots there are
if you get a number that is ≥2, then count down by 2's ending at 0

sub -x for x and evaluate
count change in sign again
that is how many negative roots there are
if you get a number that is ≥2, then count down by 2's ending at 0

so

-2x^3+3x^2-5x-2=0
-,+,-,-
 1  2
2 or 0 positive roots

x to -x
2x^3+3x^2+5x-2=0
+,+,+,-
       1
1 negative root

2 or 0 positive roots and 1 negative root

A rectangle has a length of 3x inches. The width of the rectangle is (2x+6) inches more than the length. A) Find the perimeter o
s2008m [1.1K]
Perimeter = 2*(length +width)
perimeter = 2*(3x + (3x +(2x+6)))
.. = 2*(3x +3x +2x +6)
.. = 2*(8x +6)
perimeter = 16x +12

If x=3, the perimeter is 16*3 +12 = 60 inches.

Need help for 16) and 19) Solve each equation and check. Show all work please
Paladinen [302]

Step-by-step explanation:

You said the other one would be the last haha just kidding I'm glad to help.

16. \frac{k}{2}=(-5)^2

First, get rid of that parenthesis.

\frac{k}{2}=25

Now multiply both sides by 2 so that you can isolate k

2(\frac{k}{2})=25*2

k=50

19. \frac{r}{3}=\frac{121}{11}

This is a pretty easy one. If you didn't know, 121/11 is actually 11 :)

\frac{r}{3}=11

Simply multiply by 3 to isolate r :)

3(\frac{r}{3})=11*3

r=33

How do I write this in slope intercept form: (-3,-4) and (4,-3)
DENIUS [597]
Slope intercept form is y = mx + b

Pick one of the coordinates, I’ll use (-3,-4) as the example.

Coordinates are just numbers plugged in for (x,y).

This means -3 would be your x and -4 would be your y.

So plug these numbers into the equation and you get -4 = m(-3) + b.

M is slope and to find slope, you need to do (y2-y1) / (x2-x1).

In other words, it would be (-3 - -4) / (4 - -3) = 1/7 which is your slope (m).

Now plug that in for m to get the b variable.

-4 = 1/7(-3) + b.

B = -3.57

Your answer is y = 1/7x -3.57

Find the slope of the line that passes through each pair of points
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

-1

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of the line can be found by

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    = (-2-1)/(1--2)

     =-3 /(1+2)

      =-3/3

       -1
