How does the Northern Renaissance compare to the Italian Renaissance
Molodets [167]

The Renaissance was a period of cultural and technological changes that took place at the end of the 13th century. Most of Europe was included in it but historians can divide the renaissance period into Italian and Northern Renaissance.

The Italian Renaissance was marked by cultural changes such as writers, poets, artists, sculptors - figures like Leonardo da Vinci, Petrarch, Raphael, Dante Alighieri, and others. The Italian Renaissance was marked by the attention to human detail, like muscles, hairs and other characteristics. Also, it is not so religious because it focused on worldly goods.

The Northern Renaissance is considered the movement outside Italy such as German Renaissance, French, English, Polish, Netherlands. This movement has other characteristics than the Italian one, it is more religious and focuses more on sciences and mathematics. In France architecture is the strongest feature, English renaissance was marked by literature, for example, William Shakespeare.

John cabot lands in north america and claims the land in the name of king henry vii of england. True or false?.
kolezko [41]

True: John Cabot landed in North America and claimed the land in the name of king Henry VII of England.

John Cabot was a Genovese sailor and explorer at the service of the English crown.

In 1497  Cabot departed from the English port of Bristol. The objective was to reach the islands of Cipango in Asia navigating the Atlantic ocean through the North West. He had the permission and support of king Henry VII of England.

After a first failed voyage, Cabot landed in North America, in actual Canadian territories. Cape Bonavista is the officially recognized site of his arrival. However, the precise spot of landing is not sure. It could be somewhere in Terranova, Labrador, New Scotia, or Cape Breton island.

His voyage was one of the arguments for why the English crown claimed territories in North America.
