3 times a number (3x) plus 12 (+ 12) minus times the same number (- 5x) is 22.

HERE'S THE EQUATION:

 3x+12-5x=22

COMBINE LIKE TERMS (3x + -5x):

-2x +12 = 22

SUBTRACT 12 TO ISOLATE -2x:

-2x +12 = 22
       -12    -12
= -2x = 10

DIVIDE BY 2 TO ISOLATE X:

\frac{-2x}{-2} =  \frac{10}{-2}

FINAL ANSWER:
x = -5

Suppose x is a normally distributed random variable with μ = 50 and Ϭ = 3. Find a value of the random variable, call it x0, such
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that X is N(50,3)

So whenever we want score for x, we can convert this to Z and use std normal distribution table.

The formula for conversion is

Z = \frac{x-50}{3}

Using this we can find out the corresponding scores

a) P(X\leq X_0) = 0.8413

Z value = 1 and hence

X_o = 50+1(3) = 53\\

b) P(x > x0) = 0.25

z=0.5-0.0987=0.4013\\X0= 50+3(0.4013)\\= 51.2039

c) P(x > x0) = 0.95\\z=2\\X_0 = 50+6 =56

d) P(41 ≤ x < x0) = 0.8630 \\P(-3 ≤ Z

e) 10th percentile is 50-1.28(3) =46.16

f) This is 99th percentile

=50+2.33(3)\\= 56.69

Find the rational number whose decimal expansion is 0.3344444
Eddi Din [679]
Answer: The fraction 301/900
Note: I'm assuming the 4's continue on forever

==============================================

Work Shown:

I'm going to assume that the 4s go on forever. I'll represent this with three dots after the last 4 like so
0.334444...

Now let x = 0.334444...

Multiply both sides by 100
x = 0.334444...
100x = 100*(0.334444...)
100x = 33.444444...

And repeat with 1000
x = 0.334444...
1000x = 1000*(0.334444...)
1000x = 334.444444...

Then subtract and solve for x. Notice how the decimal parts line up and cancel
1000x-100x = (334.444444...) - (33.444444...)
1000x-100x = (334+0.444444...) - (33+0.444444...)
1000x-100x = 334+0.444444... - 33 - 0.444444...
1000x-100x = (334-33)+(0.444444... - 0.444444...)
900x = 334 - 33
900x = 301
x = 301/900
