As I was nearing the end of my trip to the village where my grandfather grew up, I reflected on all that I had seen. The conditi

ons that he had lived in as a youth were so harsh compared to conditions of my own upbringing. Which sentence, if added, would make the best revision of the conclusion? I visited the one-room school house where my grandfather had been educated with the other children in his village. There was no grocery store within a hundred miles, so my grandfather and his family had to grow their own food in a garden. Knowing my grandfather’s heritage made me realize how fortunate I am. For this year’s summer vacation, I decided to visit the land where my grandfather was born and raised.

Where would a modern day pilgrimage go to in today’s more secular society?
Vitek1552 [10]
Well a modern day pilgrimage doesn't go away because tourists travel all over the world to see the religious shrines; no matter what religion they are in. However, pilgrimages are unreal in today's secular society because tourists are not taking them seriously; they are enjoying the tours the pilgrimages first hand yet they are not experiencing it more traditionally. Back in the day, religious pilgrimages were enclosed to the public because they are very sacred and holy. In modern times, people visit the pilgrimages not to be spiritually awake but to be watchers; just looking with awe hope this helps :)

Counting by 7s annotations
leva [86]

Some annotations of the book "Counting by 7s" are:

 • The protagonist, Willow Chance is very intelligent and can be considered a genius
 • She feels alone because her intellectual level is far above her peers and only feels accepted by her adopted parents Jimmy and Roberta
 • She is drawn by the number seven, plants, and medicine.

What is the summary of the book "Counting by 7s"?

The book is about 12-year-old Willow Chance, who is a “very gifted” girl that is drawn by the number seven, plants, and medicine.

She is so intelligent that she is accused of cheating on a test by her teacher because she scored a perfect score.

She has good interpersonal skills as she befriends a taxi driver, Jairo Hernandez who she influences to go back to school based on their conversation when she was in his taxi.

Hence, we can see that she made conscious efforts to learn Vietnamese so she could converse with her newfound friends, Mai and Quang-ha Nguyen.
