But it was a slow, laborious process. Frequently it took a whole day of exhausting effort to drag a single boulder to the top of

the quarry, and sometimes when it was pushed over the edge it failed to break. Nothing could have been achieved without Boxer, whose strength seemed equal to that of all the rest of the animals put together. When the boulder began to slip and the animals cried out in despair at finding themselves dragged down the hill, it was always Boxer who strained himself against the rope and brought the boulder to a stop. To see him toiling up the slope inch by inch, his breath coming fast, the tips of his hoofs clawing at the ground, and his great sides matted with sweat, filled everyone with admiration. Clover warned him sometimes to be careful not to overstrain himself, but Boxer would never listen to her.

Answer:

A. The slow pace builds suspense.

C. Foreshadowing hints at Boxer’s fate.

Explanation:

When reading the story about, it is obvious that most events are foreshadowed. Therefore the main aim of the foreshadow is to lay more emphasis on specific circumstances that are happening, suggesting that revolution is likely to fail and power leads to corrupt activities. The foreshadow in the animal farm also puts particular emphasis on the events of Clovers as nuclear destruction of the Russian revolution. Therefore the events in the story are foreshowed on different occasions when the farm corrupts to violence.

FrozenT [24]

Answer: The correct statement is "US citizens must dedicate themselves to the preservation of the nation and freedom for all."

This is clearly the correct answer based on the Gettysburg Address. One piece of evidence that supports this is where Lincoln states:

"our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure." This quote directly references the idea of equality and freedom as being foundational beliefs to America.

Lincoln goes on to discuss how the individuals being remembered today shall have not died "in vain." Lincoln suggests that the US honor their legacy by continuing their fight to establish a nation based on the ideas of freedom and liberty.
