Hi there, first we flip the equation to 3/4x-1=1/7, Now, we add 1 to both sides which makes it 3/4x=8/7. Finally, we multiply both sides by 4/3, now, 4/3*3/4x=4/3*8/7=32/21. Therefore, x=32/21

1/7 = 3(/4)x - 1

lets all multipled by 28
4 = 21x - 28
21x = 4 + 28
21x = 32
   x = 32/21
   x = 1 9/21 or  x = 1  3/7

A jogger runs 140 m due west, then changes direction for the second leg of her run. At the end of the run, she is 374 m away fro
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

The length of her second displacement = 247.12 m.

The direction of her second displacement = 31.24° from west.

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the question,

From the figure as drawn below,

Let the starting point be O. After running 140 m due west, she reached at point A.

∴ OA = 140 m

And At the end of the run, she is 374 m away from the starting point at an angle of 20° north of west.

∴ OP = 374 m

We have to find the distance AP = x.

By using the cosine rule in triangle OAP

cos \theta = \frac{OA^{2}+OP^{2}-AP^{2}}{2\times OA\times OP}

After putting the given value, we get

cos 20= \frac{140^{2}+374^{2}-x^{2}}{2\times 140\times 374}

x^{2}=140^{2}+374^{2} - 2\times 140\times 374\times cos 20

  ∴ x = 247.12 m

Hence,the length of her second displacement = 247.12 m.

Again,

By using the cosine rule in triangle OAP, we get

cos \alpha = \frac{OA^{2}+AP^{2}-OP^{2}}{2\times OA\times AP}

After putting the given value, we get

cos \alpha = \frac{140^{2}+247.12^{2}-374^{2}}{2\times 140\times 247.12}

∴ α = 148.759°

Hence, the  direction of her second displacement = 180° - α = 180° - 148.759 = 31.24° from west.

Compute 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, and 48. Make a conjecture about the units digit of 4n where n is a positive integer. Use str
padilas [110]

Answer:

The conjecture is that the unit digit of 4^n = 4 when n = odd also 4^n = 6 when n = even

Step-by-step explanation:

4^1 = 4\\4^2 = 16\\4^3 = 64\\4^4 = 256 \\4^5 = 1024\\4^6 = 4096\\4^7 = 16384\\4^8 = 65536

The conjecture is that the unit digit of 4^n = 4 when n = odd also 4^n = 6 when n = even

To prove this conjecture

4^1 = 4\\4^2 = 16 unit digit = 6

hence the property is true for ; n = 1 and n = 2 and also for every odd and even number ( i.e. from 1  to 8 )

Draw an example of a composite figure that has a volume between 750 cubic inches and 900 cubic inches
grigory [225]

Volume:

V \approx 888.02in^3 \\ \\ And, \ 750in^3

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

A composite figure is formed by two or more basic figures or shapes. In this problem, we have a composite figure formed by a cylinder and a hemisphere as shown in the figure below, so the volume of this shape as a whole is the sum of the volume of the cylinder and the hemisphere:

V_{total}=V_{cylinder}+V_{hemisphere} \\ \\ \\ V_{total}=V \\ \\ V_{cylinder}=V_{c} \\ \\ V_{hemisphere}=V_{h}

So:

V_{c}=\pi r^2h \\ \\ r:radius \\ \\ h:height

From the figure the radius of the hemisphere is the same radius of the cylinder and equals:

r=\frac{8}{2}=4in

And the height of the cylinder is:

h=15in

So:

V_{c}=\pi r^2h \\ \\ V_{c}=\pi (4)^2(15) \\ \\ V_{c}=240\pi in^3

The volume of a hemisphere is half the volume of a sphere, hence:

V_{h}=\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3\right) \\ \\ V_{h}=\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{4}{3} \pi (4)^3\right) \\ \\ V_{h}=\frac{128}{3}\pi in^3

Finally, the volume of the composite figure is:

V=240\pi+\frac{128}{3}\pi \\ \\ V=\frac{848}{3}\pi in^3 \\ \\ \\ V \approx 888.02in^3 \\ \\ And, \ 750in^3
