1. How did Justinian's Code have an impact beyond the Byzantine empire?

• It later guided the development of present-day international law.

<em>The Justinian Code was officially called Corpus Juris Civilis and it had a series of books like the Codex Iustinianus, Digesta, Institutiones and the Novellae. This Code was the basis of the new Roman Empire and when the Empire fell, it continued to influence civil law in the Middle Ages and still in modern nation-states. Until this day some basic concepts that were created in the Code are used, for example, difference between ownership and possession, property law. </em>

2. How did Germanic tribes carve Europe into small kingdoms?

• Germanic kings waged wars of conquest.

<em>The Germanic tribes conquered part of the Roman empire. Different than the Roman Empire that had the concept of having just one huge kingdom, the Germanic Tribes opted by dividing Europe into small kingdoms. The tribes that conquered parts of the Roman Empire were men, such as the Goths, Vandals, Saxons, and Franks. The base of their culture was farming and herding and because of that, they opted by living in small cities that were governed by an elected king. </em>

3. How did Charlemagne most effectively convert many pagans to Christianity?

• through missionarie

<em>When Charlemagne extended his territory to the Bavaria he needed to convert those Saxons tribes to Christianity. It took 30 years to convert the Saxons. First, he fought the tribes, destroyed their religious monuments, after that he forced converted them by planting missionary outposts in form of bishoprics. If someone did not want to be baptized they would be killed. </em>
