Typological species concept: During this concept, the classification was based on the similarities and differences in the physical characteristics of the organisms.  

Biological species concept: Under this concept, the classification is based on the similarities that different organisms share and their ability to breed with each other to produce a fertile offspring.

Phylogenetic species concept: Classification is mainly based on the evolutionary history.
