Given that, From 2000 to 2006, the number of students enrolled at a state university increased by 40%.  

The number of students enrolled at the university in 2006 was 10,325  

We have to find what was the enrollment in 2000?

\begin{array}{l}{10325=\text { students enrolled in } 2000 \times \frac{5+2}{5}} \\\\ {10325=\text { students enrolled in } 2000 \times \frac{7}{5}}\end{array}

\begin{array}{l}{\text { Students enrolled in } 2000=10325 \times \frac{5}{7}} \\\\ {\text { Students enrolled in } 2000=1475 \times 5=7375}\end{array}

Hence, 7375 students enrolled in 2000.
