Answer:

Without trade barriers, nations can specialize, which allows them to take advantage of their unique  resources.

Explanation:

Trade barriers are all kinds of government activities or regulations restricting the freedom of international trade.

Most trade barriers are characterized by the same mechanism, that is, by imposing various types of artificially generated costs on trade, so that the price of the good which is the subject of it increases. They are intended to favor or protect domestic producers by excluding them from an equivalent market. This is at the expense of the consumer's interests because he must pay more for goods and services that would normally be available to him at lower prices.

Theoretically speaking, the free market removes all trade barriers except those that harm public health and safety. In practice, even those countries that promote free trade rules intensively subsidize certain areas of the economy, such as agriculture and the metallurgy industry.

In 100 to 150 words, assess whether or not India and the Philippines has been successful in the years since achieving independen
kirza4 [7]

Explanation:

Modern India has been fairly successful since attaining independence from Britain. Political stability and strong leadership in the years following independence allowed India to progress socially and economically. State support to farmers and the use of advanced technologies led to self-sufficiency in food production. Industrialization and infrastructural development made India one of the leading steel producers in the world. Social problems such as gender inequality, illiteracy, and caste discrimination have also subsided to a great extent.

Pakistan’s independence established a homeland for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent. However, the nation could not provide safety and stability to its people. Political stability eluded the nation as the government was taken over by military leaders. Adopting an Islamic rather than secular identity allowed fundamentalism to take root. Further, the nation has been accused of supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan, who are connected to the international terrorist group al-Qaeda.
