Compression stress compresses rock.

Several mountains include enormous magnificent folds of rocks. Mountains that are accumulated primarily by gathering are described folded mountains. Compression stresses are a significant force that develops folded mountains.

Thrust faulting is also necessary for the development of folded mountains, which are often termed as fold-and-thrust belts. Folded mountains often carry various stacked pressure faults that have dismissed the folded rock layers near the northern Rocky Mountains.
