The great depression was a 10 year period of time, lasting from 1929 till 1939, where the American population suffered the worst economic recession in its history, after the stock market crash on 1929 investors panicked and left the country, so less jobs were created and the ones that already existed started to go away, creatin high unemployment and high inflation. America only came out of the great depression thanks to World War II and the powerfull injection of money and jobs that that brought to the national economy.
