Second – it is the beginning of centralized government in England, and

Third - it also started the development of a democracy there.

At the administrative level, William the Conqueror's victory at Hastings meant the Witan turned to be called the GREAT COUNCIL and it was an advisory body. Besides, the Anglo-Saxons' feudalism was improved into TERRITORIAL FEUDALISM.  

At the social level, William's victory meant the disappearance of the middle class (the Thanes). A sharp differentiation between social classes emerged: Aristocracy (Barons and Knights) and the Villains.

At the cultural level, said victory meant the return to the Mediterranean civilisation since three languages were spoken (French, Latin, and English).
