Answer:

The treaty that was signed in 1794 to end trade conflicts between the United States and Great Britain was negotiated by John Jay, for the United States, and William Greenville, for Great Britain.

Explanation:

The Jay Treaty of Jay was concluded on November 19, 1794 between the United States and the Kingdom of Great Britain in order to reduce mutual tensions between both countries.

After the American War of Independence, the tension between the two countries increased again due to a number of incidents. For example, there were many objections from the Americans that goods originating from the French colonies were seized by the British. There was also uncertainty about the precise course of the border between the United States and Canada and the British would provide ammunition and weapons to the Indians in the Northwest Territory. To resolve all these issues, President George Washington sent the supreme judge of the US Supreme Court John Jay to London to negotiate with the British.

John Jay agreed with the British negotiator Willam Grenville that the British would leave all border forts occupied by British troops on American territory. A special two-part committee would also be established to clearly establish the border with Canada. In addition, a commission was to be set up to investigate the damage to American ships and trade and to make a decision on reparations. Finally, the United States obtained some trade rights to the British colonies in the Caribbean and British India. In contrast, the Americans had to recognize the British as their most favored nation.
